Abstract

425,785. Changing wave-form. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and GOSSLING, B. S., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Jan. 4, 1934, No. 328. [Class 38 (ii)] [See also Group XL] A circuit for producing hum-neutralizing potentials of the correct wave-form to apply to a valve having its cathode heated by alternating current, comprises a transformer 1, fed from the same supply, and a full wave rectifier circuit. comprising rectifiers 2 and load resistance 3 with various methods of modifying the wave-form of its output. Thus in series with the load 3, may be connected a variable resistance 4, Fig. 3, or an aiding or opposing source of potential 5, Fig. 4. A non-ohmic impedance comprising a rectifier 6, Fig. 5, may be shunted across the load 3 and also a variable resistance 7 and/or a potential source 8. Any combination of the above arrangements may be used and, in addition, a non-linear transformer may be connected in the output or input of the rectifier. The corrector network should have a byepass for high frequency.
