Abstract
425,783. Pipe couplings. SKODA WORKS, PLZEN, 37n, Jungmannova, Prague. Dec. 20, 1933, No. 35867. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1932. [Class 99 (i)] In an automatic train pipe coupling means are provided for moving the resiliently mounted coupling heads out of the coupling position against the action of their springs without uncoupling the vehicles for examination of the sealing gaskets. The coupling is of the kind in which a coupling head 10 has an end portion 16 embracing the hooked end 9 of a bracket 7 and is held against the latter by a spring 17, the other end of which bears on the head 15 of a rod 13 engaging the hook 9. The means for withdrawing the coupling head comprises a forked lever 12 pivoted on the bracket, a worm 28 and wheel 27 mounted on the pivot pin of the vehicle coupling and arranged to be actuated from the side of the vehicle, and a crank and connecting rod 26, 25. In a modification, the forked lever is actuated by a screw which is in threaded engagement with the lever and has its end bearing on the bracket.
