[Class 123 (ii)] [See also Group XII] In a waste heat tubular boiler, a single vertically adjustable damper B closes the outlet ends of a varying proportion of the upper boiler tubes A and comprises a unitary structure of heatresisting material, e.g. an asbestoscovered steel plate H with vertical strips F attached thereto by distance pieces G to cover the ends of tubes not projecting so far as the stay tubes C. The plate moves in vertical or inclined guides N and is counterbalanced by a weight attached thereto by chains running over pulleys which may be locked in position. The damper is forced against the tubes by screwed rods.
