Abstract

Cyclohexylcyclohexanol or a homologue thereof is treated with a sulphonating agent whereby products useful as wetting and detergent agents are obtained. In examples, a mixture of methylcyclohexylmethylcyclohexanols is sulphonated with sulphuric acid in ether and with oleum in chloroform. Dimethyl cyclohexyldimethylcyclohexanol is mentioned, and Specification 397,883 is referred to.
