Abstract

302,172. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Dec. 10, 1927, [Convention date]. Salts of sulphonic acids.-Sodium butylnaphthalenesulphonate is prepared from 2 mols. of butyl alcohol, 1 mol. of naphthalene, and 6 mols. of sulphuric acid, the product being neutralized with caustic soda after the excess of sulphuric acid has been removed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes the preparation of an ammonium sulphonate by heating together to 30‹ -40‹ C. equal parts of the oily residue known as Edeleanu extract and chlorosulphonic acid, diluting with water, and neutralizing with ammonia. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
