Abstract

A stable wetting and degreasing agent is made by mixing a sulphonated fat having a sulphonic acid content of more than 40 per cent, for example sulphonated castor oil, with a hydrogenated phenol, for example methylcyclohexanol made by hydrogenating crude cresol, and neutralizing the mixture with potash lye or other alkali. An unsaturated fatty acid soap, such as potash-olein soap, may be added to the mixture.
