Abstract

423,431. Retaining - walls. COSSO, A., 17A, Piazza Fontane Marose, Genoa, Italy. July 24, 1933, No. 20847. [Class 68 (ii)] [See also Group X] Relates to hollow retaining-walls for water in which the two faces are composed of pre-cast slabs and are arranged on either side of a concrete framework which is case in situ between them. According to the invention, each slab 2 is provided on one face with a plurality of ribs 4 and integral projections 8 which are arranged at right angles to each other and serve to support the shuttering 11, 10, for the horizontal and vertical members E, G, of the concrete framework. The slabs are formed of brick, concrete, or like material and, in the construction shown, are provided with interengaging tongues 6 and recesses 7. The ribs 4 are reinforced by bars 5 the ends 51 of which extend into and reinforce the vertical members G of the concrete framework. The horizontal members E of the framework are reinforced by some of the ribs 4. The projections 8 and shuttering plates 10 are provided with chamfered edges, whereby the plates are firmly wedged in position during the casting operation.
