422,989. Spanners. GOODALL, W. H. F., 35, Paignton Road, Rotton Park, LIVING- STONE, D., 155, Rotton Park Road, and SIMON, A., 77, Stanmore Road, all in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Feb. 1, 1934, No. 3330. [Class 61 (iii)] In a spanner having a slidable jaw 13 operated by a worm 20 mounted eccentrically on a spindle rotatable in the jaw by a thumb lever 22 to engage the worm with or disengage it from teeth 12 on the shank 11 of the fixed jaw 10, the lever 22 engages in one or other of diametrically opposite recesses in the undersurface 23 of the movable jaw 13 to lock the worm in the engaged or disengaged position. The spindle has some play in the slot 15 in which it is disposed and a spring 26 positively holds the lever 22 in the locking recesses.
