Abstract

422,919. Road-vehicle axles. OLECHNOVITCH, N., 8, Barclose Avenue, Reading. July 17, 1933, No. 20135. [Class 108 (ii)] [See also Group XXXI] The axle of a motor or like road vehicle is made in three parts A, B, C, of which the end parts A, C are pivoted at D, D<1> to the central portion B, and are guided vertically so as to remain parallel to their initial position by means of integral extensions or plungers E, E<1> sliding within tubular guides F, F<1>, which are secured to the frame members G, G<1> by means of brackets K, K<1>. In this way the end portions A, C may move independently of each other, and at the same time do not subject the springs S to torsional stresses. In order to compensate for the shortening of the distance between the plungers E, E<1> when the central portions B assumes an inclined position the guide tubes F, F<1> are surrounded by rubber sleeves H, H<1> capable of yielding to the degree required. Owing to their movement in the tubes F, F<1> the plungers E, E exert a damping effect on movements of the axle.
