Abstract

376,841. Road vehicle suspensions. COY, W. E., 2; Courthope Road, Wimbledon Hill, London. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5518. [Class 108 (ii).] The frame and the axle of a vehicle are connected on each side by an arm hinged or slidably connected to the frame and each such arm is connected to another arm hingedly or otherwise secured to the frame, resilient supporting means being interposed between one or both arms and the frame. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the axle D is fixed at one end to an arm C pivoted to the depending bracket B and supporting the frame A through resilient means E. A second arm F also pivoted to the frame A is connected by a link G to the arm C and supports the frame by a resilient device H. Various arrangements of two levers are illustrated, the shackles G which permit longitudinal displacements being in some cases interposed between the arms and the frame or replaced by sliding connections. In the modification shown in Fig. 9, the two arms are both connected to the axle D, while in the modification shown in Figs. 6 and 6a, the arm F is of channel section, a resilient rubber packing being interposed between the meeting portions of the arms C, F.
