Abstract
363,557. Road vehicle suspensions. KAN, D. M., 1, Parklaan, Hilversum, DRIEMAN, F. A., 134, Van Breestraat, KAN, M. L., 12, J. M. Coenenstraat, and SCHAARDEMBURG, F. J. J. VAN, 8, RaphaÙlstraat, all in Amsterdam, both in Holland. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 6238. [Class 108 (ii).] In a six-wheeled motor vehicle having two rear axles arranged close together with the rear axle 18 mounted in a frame 19 connected at its forward end by a universal joint to the main frame, the longitudinal springs 6, 7 of the intermediate axle 4 are connected to the main frame by pivots 8, 9, while their free ends are connected through levers and links 11, 13, 16, 31 to the ends of the transverse carrier 26 which bears upon a transverse spring 24 shackled to the ends of the longitudinal suspension springs 20 of the rear axle 18. The springs 20 are of the quarter-elliptic type and are bolted to the rear axle frame 19. A sliding bearing 25 between the transverse spring 24 and the transverse carrier 25 allows the rear axle 18 to swing about the universal connection between the frame 19 and the main frame. In a modification, Fig. 4, the inverted springs 6 of the front axle 4 are connected at their rearward free ends to a transverse carrier 61, the centre of which is pivoted to a central lever 58 hinged to the main frame at its forward end 59 and connected at its rear end to a hinged frame 52 carrying a bearing member 26 engaging the centre of a transverse spring 24 the ends of which are shackled to the springs 20 of the rear axle. A slidable connection allows transverse movement of the spring 24 and the rear axle, this movement being resisted by additional springs. Specification 296,701, [Class 108 (ii), Road vehicles, Undercarriage details &c. for], is referred to.
