Abstract
405,417. Railway vehicles. COCHRANE, W., 62A, Dennington Park Road, West Hampstead, London. Oct. 27, 1932, No. 30073. [Class 103 (vi).] The suspension for railway vehicles comprises long uncambered springs extending transversely across the bogie &c. the springs being linked to the bogie frame and being placed in longitudinal tension. As shown the swing bolster c, Fig. 2, comprises one or more flat leaf springs suspended on links f or having the ends slidable in guides. The ends of the spring c are connected by bolts g to springs g<3> which stress the spring in the direction of its length. The bolster c supports a king-pin e about which swivels a spring j supporting the vehicle body, the ends of the spring being supported on rollers j<2> running on a surface on the bogie frame. The axles need not be sprung but if desirable they may be supported on a spring L, Fig. 4, slidable at the ends in guides o and placed under longitudinal tension by springs n. Specification 405,397 is referred to.
