[Class 80 (iii)] [See also Group XXXI] Relates to gearing of the kind comprising a cam 11 engaged by a follower 13 mounted on, or operatively connected to, a rocker arm 21 mounted on a rocker shaft 23. According to the invention, the follower is pivoted and is automatically positively rotated as the rocker arm moves. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the pivot-pin 15 of the follower 13 is carried on the rocker arm 21 itself and is provided at its outer end with a crank-pin 25, which carries a block 27 sliding in an arcuate slot in the casing. The arrangement is preferably such that the centre 35 of the slot, the axis 24 of rock shaft 23, and the axes of the pins 15, 25 form a parallelogram, so that the direction of the follower 13 remains fixed in space. In modifications (not shown) the arcuate slot is replaced (i) by a pivoted link connecting crank-pin 25 to a fixed pivot at 35 ; or (ii) by a toothed quadrant on the pivot-pin 15 and a fixed quadrant of the same radius, the two quadrants meshing with an idler on the arm 21 ; or (iii) by a pair of drums connected by a crossed belt. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the pivot-pin 15 of the follower passes through a block 27 slidable in an arcuate slot 51 in the casing 53 and carries a crank 55 pivoted to the rocker arm 21 at 57.
