Connecting-rods.-A connecting-rod is formed in two parts, one part carrying or being formed by a block that is arranged between two sets of springs carried by the other part. In Fig. 6 one part f<1> of the rod is recessed at k to take a block l to which it is connected by a pin. k<1>. The block is resiliently fitted in the part f<2> of the rod between sets of springs i, the whole being held in position by screws j<1>. In the modification shown in Fig. 1, an adjustable bell crank member n is situated between the connecting rod o and the knife-bar of a mowing machine and a set of cushioning springs is arranged on each side of a block connecting the rod o to the member n and other sets of cushioning springs are arranged in the connection of the member n to the knife-bar.
