Abstract
421,745. Fuel-injection pumps. BISCHOF, B., 16, Tobelstrasse, Winterthur, Switzerland. July 20, 1933, No. 20527. Convention date, July 20, 1932. [Class 102 (i)] In a fuel-injection pump, of the type in which the pump plunger controls the suction and delivery ports and injection is effected under the action of an accumulator plunger c, Fig. 1, which is loaded by liquid in a space m, the space m communicates with an auxiliary space f, in order to adapt the pump for both high and low speeds. Communication between the spaces m and f may be controlled by a cock v, operated either manually or automatically. At high speeds the cock v is closed, and at low speeds the cock v is opened in order to reduce the injection pressure. A vent screw i is provided at the highest point. In a modification, Fig. 3, the space m is in constant communication with the space f through a nozzle g. The space f may be formed by a closed bell surrounding the chamber m, or, as shown, the space f may enclose the heads of two or more pumps and form the suction chamber, being supplied with fuel at the highest point and communicating with the suction parts p<1> by passages p.
