Abstract
421,636. Treating photographic silver images. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.- GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. May 15, 1934, No. 14656. Convention date, May 24, 1933. [Class 98 (ii)] Silver pictures of enhanced brilliance are produced by adding to the fixing bath, to the developer or to an intermediate bath between developing and fixing, one or more non-toning substances which form silver salts whose solubility in a 10 per cent solution of sodium thiosulphate does not exceed 500 milligrams per litre at 20 C. Suitable substances are lysalbinic acid, cystine, 4-ethylthiochlorobenzoic acid, 4: 4<1>-diaminothiophenyl-5-sulphonic acid, thioaniline, 2: 2<1>-diaminodiphonyl disulphide, mercaptobenzthiazole, dithiocarbanilic acid, dithioaldehyde sulphocyanide, and dicyandiamide. Examples of the addition of these substances to fixing and developing baths are given.
