Abstract

390,037. Photographic emulsions. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. July 14, 1932, No. 19959. Convention date, July 24, 1931. [Class 98 (ii).] Silver halide gelatin emulsions optically sensitized or hyper-sensitized in known manner are stabilized by adding to the emulsion before it is poured on the support an organic compound forming a silver salt, the solubility of which in water at 18‹ C. does not surpass that of silver chloride. The organic compounds may be an iminazole, a tetrazole, a mercaptopenthiophen, a thioglycollic acid or a mercaptotriazole. In the particular examples ethylthiotriazole and 6-nitrobenziminazole are employed. Specifications 271,475 and 305,143, [both in Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.], are referred to.
