Abstract
305,143. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Jan. 31, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 271,475. Emulsions.-An organic compound (other than imidazole or derivative thereof) which forms a stable silver salt of solubility not greater than that of silver chloride is added to a silver emulsion or to a constituent thereof. The effects on the grain formation, tendency to fog, and otherwise, are described, and reference is made to Specification 271,475. Five examples are given. (1) 100 milligrams of thioglycollic acid per 100 grams of silver nitrate are added to the potassium bromide before the silver solution is run into the bromide. (2) 50 milligrams of thiolactic acid are used in the same way. (3) During the manufacture of a highly-sensitive negative emulsion there is added to the gelatin, while it is being digested, 50 milligrams of tetrazole per 100 grams of silver nitrate. (4) To a high speed negative emulsion, made as in example 3, there is added, per kilo, of emulsion, 7 milligrams of 2 : 6-dimercapto-4-keto-3 : 5-diphenylpenthiopen. (5) To a positive emulsion, and before the pouring operation as in example 2, there is added 20 milligrams of allylaminothiobiazodesulphhydrate.
