Abstract

421,065. Cathode-ray tubes. BRAY, T. E., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, London. June 13, 1933, No. 16901. [Class 39 (i)] In a television or other apparatus, a cathoderay tube with means, such as plates, for deflecting the ray is adjustably supported so that a direction of deflection can be varied by adjusting the orientation of the tube with respect to a cabinet or supporting frame or to a mask through which the picture on the screen of the tube is viewed. The picture can thus be adjusted to make its edges parallel to those of the mask or can be rotated through a right angle around the central axis of the tube to change from vertical to horizontal scanning. A shaft 3 carrying the holder 2 for the tube 1 is rotatably mounted in the cabinet and is manually rotated by gearing 5 and a coupling 8. Stops may limit the angle of rotation. Current is supplied to the tube I through flexible leads 10.
