Abstract
457,510. Television receivers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and CAMPBELL, N. R., and JESTY, L. C., c/o General Electric Co., Ltd., Wembley, Middlesex. July 5, 1935, Nos. 19277 and 36084. [Class 40 (iii)] In a television receiving set incorporating a cathode ray tube, in order that the image screen may not be viewed directly in a vertical position, or, if reflected, in an apparent vertical position, the plane of the screen or its reflection is arranged at an angle of about 15‹ to the vertical and is viewed at a corresponding downward inclination of about 15‹ to the horizontal, the upper edge of the image being the more remote from the observer 5. The tube 2 with its screen 1 may either be permanently fixed at the desired inclination, or as shown in Fig. 3, the tube may be supported on an adjustable base 7 in the cabinet 3, or in another arrangement, Fig. 2, the tube 2 may point downwardly and the image be viewed in a mirror 6 disposed below the tube and at an inclination to the horizontal of less than 45‹.
