Abstract
421,016. Lubricators. LESLIE, G. W. D., 132, Pitt Street, Sydney, Australia. Dec. 11, 1933, No. 34858. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1932. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (iii)] An axle journal 10 is lubricated by a plurality of rollers 16 which bear against the underside of the journal 10 and are carried by a spindle 17 supported in bearings 19 on a plate 23. The latter is supported by a semielliptic spring 25 fixed at 26 to a flexible plate 27 resting on a floor plate 29 fitted in the axle-box 15. The plate 29 has bent out lugs 36, 37 positioning the plate 27 and a lug 38 to which is fixed a spring yoke 39 carrying an obturator 40 engaging the axle fillet 42. The obturator prevents oil leakage and is also supported by a plate spring 43. The plates 29, 27 are locked to the axle-box by a dowel 32 and cotter 30 respectively. The rollers 16 have V-grooves 20 on the perimeter. The lubricator is surrounded by a wire gauze screen 50, Fig. 2, having slots for the passage of the rollers 16. The yoke 39 may be replaced by a pair of semi-elliptic springs fixed to a lug bent out of the plate 29. If the plate 29 is omitted the obturator is supported from the plate 27.
