Abstract
194,698. Broussouse, F. L. March 7, 1922, [Convention date]. Axle-trucks and bogies; springs, arrangement of, and mounting bodies on; axle-bearing guiding arrangements.-In a bogie for railway and like vehicles the lateral elements of the bogie truck are constituted by the suspension springs of the bogie, articulated directly to the grease-boxes and having suitably different curvatures and dimensions for the purpose of maintaining a constant distance between the grease-boxes, whatever may be the deflection of the springs. The bolster 10 is connected at each end by two sets of leaf springs 8, 9, each set comprising two upper springs 8<2> pivoted to the top of the greaseboxes 4, 5, and two lower springs 8' connected to the bottom of the same grease-boxes. The pivots 14, 15 are on a diagonal line through the centre of the grease-box, and each upper spring 8<2> in its normal position is convex, and each lower spring 8<1> flat, so that under load, when the upper spring tends to become flat and the lower one concave, the pivots 15 move away from, and the pivots 14 towards, each other, so that the distance between the centres of the axle-boxes remains unchanged.
