Abstract

19,469. Jelley, R. Sept. 5. Baths and reservoirs.-To exclude dust from an axle bearing for locomotives or other vehicles, and to retain oil so as to form an oil-bath for the axle, two semicircular pads P<1>, P<2> of rectangular section are mounted in a recess B in the keep A at the lower side of the bearing. The pads are held in carriers C<1>, C', and are pressed upwards against the axle by flat springs D', D<2>. A spring E presses the pads against the sides of the recess B. The oil from the reservoir G collects in the recess, and being unable to escape forms an oil-bath.
