Abstract

245,255. Cleave, A. E. Nov. 25, 1924. Capillary-action lubricating.-A lubricating device for the axle-boxes of tramcars comprises a loose box A containing waste and oil, the waste being kept in contact with the axle by two pairs of bow springs B resting on the bottom of the axle-box and secured to the base of the box A by riveted brass plates D. The inner end of the box A is cut away as shown in Fig. 2 to allow the axle to enter the box, which is constructed of sheet iron, the sides being lapped ever the ends and riveted thereto. The ends of the springs B have renewable convex wearing shoes C riveted thereto.
