Abstract
420,088. Drying systems. MOORE, J. E., 56, Newton Street, Manchester. May 25, 1933, No. 15084. [Class 34 (ii)] In a laundry or other drying- machine of the kind in which clothes or other pieces of material are carried between endless openwork conveyers in a zig-zag course through a chamber C from the feed-end D to the delivery end F, the conveyers A, B passing respectively over external rollers G, H and J, J<1>, K and jointly over internal rollers E, an agitating- fan W blows air on to the material to be dried. A steam-pipe T supplies grids of heating-pipes U and, by a pipe S, one or more heaters R in a lowered compartment Q, to which air is delivered, as by a fan P. The conveyers may be formed of gauze, wire aprons, or endless cords, wires, or closely-coiled springs spaced by grooves in the rollers, and may be belt-driven from a shaft M. Variable-speed gearing or other speed-adjusting means may be provided. Used air or a portion of it may be conducted to an external heater and re-circulated.
