Abstract

Starch is extracted from maize by subjecting the comminuted maize to separating operations in water to remove the germ and bran, concentrating the mill starch by extraction of water and removing gluten therefrom, the water extracted from the mill starch being re-used for separating operations and the gluten water being re-used for steeping maize. The process is illustrated by flow sheet diagrams.
