Abstract

In the wet method of manufacturing starch from maize, the mill starch of high density is treated for the recovery of starch and gluten, the resultant water being used for steeping the maize, while the mill starch of low density is returned to the separating operations without removal of the starch and gluten therefrom. The material may be subjected to germ, coarse slop and fine slop separations, the mill starch from the fine slop stage being returned to the germ wash and the first of the series of coarse slop washes.
