Abstract
Latex is concentrated by a creaming process, characterized in that the latex is subjected to violent agitation for a brief period of time either before, after, or simultaneously with the addition of the creaming agent, whereby the rate of creaming is increased. The agitation is preferably effected by rapid stirring. The process is applicable to vulcanized or unvulcanized latex. In the case where the latex is agitated before the addition of the creaming agent, the latter should be added within three hours of the treatment. In an example 50 ccs. of latex are stirred in a 100 cc. bottle for one minute by means of a stirrer on inch diameter having three triangular blades running at 13,000 revolutions per minute.
