[Class 110 (iii).] A power plant comprises a rotary vapour generator, a gas turbine mounted on the rotor of the generator, and a vapour turbine on the same or an interconnected shaft. In Fig. 1, fuel is burnt in compressed air in a rotary chamber 13 which has channels 2, 3 and pockets 4 through which water is circulated. The products of combustion are passed through a gas turbine 5, 6, mounted on the rotor, and the exhaust imparts further heat to the water. The steam generated is dried and superheated in coils 21 and in passages 8, and is led by a pipe 10 to a steam turbine 11. The steam pipe 10 and the fuel pipe 17 are insulated. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, a coil 25 is arranged within the rotary combustion chamber 13, and coils 29 in the turbine exhaust space outside it. The steam turbine comprises a high-pressure radial-flow unit 30 having oppositely running rotors, and an axial-flow unit 32. Between the units the steam is reheated in a coil 21. The coils 29 may be supported by reinforcements. When pulverized fuel is used, the ash may be removed from the gas through openings 40. Specification 388,610 is referred to.
