Abstract

416,460. Ladders. PRIDE, E., 19, Priestlands Park Road, Sidcup, Kent. Feb. 10, 1934, No. 4449. [Class 20 (ii).] A folding metal ladder of the type in which the sides are formed of hinged links, has each link comprising two flat members 6 formed with an eyed-end of rule-joint formation, rigidly secured together with their eyed ends facing in opposite directions. The opposed sides are connected by rods 8 secured by spring rings 11 entering grooves in the ends of the rods, and tubes are mounted on the rods to serve as rungs. To the ends of the lowermost links are connected short links 5 to receive a rope 4 by which the ladder is secured to a lug 3 at the base of a container 1 which is secured to the floor of a room just beneath a window into which the ladder is normally collapsed. A sliding stopbolt 13 is used to engage fixed sleeves 12, 14 on the ends of adjacent links of the ladder to lock these links against collapse when the ladder is in extended position.
