Abstract
337,623. Meluish, J., and Walker, H. E. Nov. 18, 1929. Collapsable ladders.- A collapsable ladder, of the lazy-tongs type, has each rung connected to the next by a pair of links which are pivoted together at their centres and have slotted ends which engage with projections on the rung. As shown, a number of spaced treads a of angleiron or steel are interconnected by pairs of links b pivoted together about pins b<1>. The links b have slots b<2> at the ends which engage with pins c on the treads a. The extended ladder is collapsed by bringing the treads a together. In this movement, the links b rotate, about the pins b<1> and the slots b<2> slide over the pins c until the links are substantially parallel to the treads. The links, may be made of flexible steel, or alternatively, the links and treads may be allowed substantial play on the pins, in order that the collapsed ladder may be rolled up.
