Abstract
416,339. Stereoscopes. MAHLER, J., Nemecky Brod, No. 45, Czecho- Slovakia. Feb. 20, 1934, No. 5565. [Class 97 (i).] In apparatus for viewing stereoscopic pairs of diapositives, each diapositive is located in the range of vision of both the observer's eyes, and illuminating means for the diapositives are so arranged that the rays illuminating one of them are received by only one of the observer's eyes while the rays illuminating the other picture are received only by the other eye. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the pictures 1, 11 are arranged at right-angles to each other in the front of a box 5 having a viewing aperture 6, a transparent reflector 2 being disposed at 45‹ between the pictures. The box is provided with translucent plates 4, 4<1> through which daylight or artificial light passes to reflectors 3, 3<1> so arranged that light from the plate 4 is directed by the reflector 3 through the picture 1 to the observer's left eye 7, and light from the plate 41 similarly reaches the right eye 71 after reflection at the plate 2. In another form, Fig. 7, the plate 4, 4<1> are arranged within the box at right-angles to each other and to the respective pictures 1, 1<1> which they illuminate. Light from a source 13 is directed to the pictures by mirrors 14, 14<1> inclined at 45‹ to the plates 4, 41 respectively.
