Abstract
416,216. Endless chain conveyers. BRYDEN, J., c/o Hoare & Co., Columbo, Ceylon. Nov. 27, 1933, No. 33120. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1932. [Class 78 (i).] In apparatus for drying materials of the kind in which endless webs of trays 27, Fig. 16, are arranged together side by side to form a single drying unit, and in which the outermost sides of the unit are each driven by an outer driving chain 13 while the contiguous sides of adjacent webs of trays are driven by a common intermediate driving chain 14, the driving chains are formed with pins or pegs 16, 17, 26, entering into recesses in the ends of the trays, and the chains are driven by sprockets 6, 7 formed with projections 31, 32 adapted to swing the trays upwardly about the pins or pegs at the points where the chains pass over the sprockets to prevent jamming of the trays. The trays are fed from a hopper 36 divided into sections 37, 38 and containing a rotary spreader consisting of two sets of curved blades 40, 41.
