Abstract

415,278. Controlling the balloon during the twisting and winding of yarn, filaments, &c. by cap spinning-apparatus. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London. Oct. 19, 1933, No. 29017. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1932. [Class 120 (ii).] The length of material in the balloon during the twisting and winding of filaments, yarns, threads and the like by cap spinning-apparatus, particularly in the twisting and winding of artificial filaments continuously with their production, is controlled so that it is greater when the diameter of the bobbin or package is small than when it is large. As shown, the invention is applied to the twisting of artificial threads during production. The guides 24 are carried by a rod 22 which is operated by a strap 26, ratchet gearing 36 and reduction gearing 34, 35 from the pump shaft 32, so that during the filling of the bobbin the guides are lowered from the position shown in dotted lines to that shown in full lines, whereby the balloon is so controlled that contact with the separators 13 and the top of the cap is prevented. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the application of the invention to twisting during delivery, the yarn guide being moved upwardly away from the bobbin as the yarn is wound off. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
