Abstract

492,853. Bobbins or spools and building- motions therefor. LECLERCQ & FILS, G., and LECLERCQ, G. Dec. 31, 1937, No. 36251. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] Spools are wound in continuous spinning and twisting machines by winding in slightly inclined conical layers extending over teh height of the spool and becoming continuously shorter to form a frusto-conical portion with ends C, C', and thereafter, as a continuous operation, winding layers c<1> so as to form a cylindrical spool and to complete the conical upper end. The traverses of the first portion mav extend to the same lower level to wind on a flanged tube, Fig. 5 (not shown). The shafts for reciprocating the builder rails are oscillated from a collar 4 by chains 2, 2<1> engaging cams 1,. 1<1> fast on the shafts and shaped in accordance with the desired frustoconical form. The collar 4 is operated by a screw 6 driven through reversing gear 9, 91 controlled bv a lever 12, which is moved as required by the contact of stops 26, 27 with cams 24, 25 carried by a depending rod 28. The stops 26, 27 are carried by a pivoted frame 19 which is oscillated by a pin 21 on the collar 4. The cams 24, 25 are suitably shaped and rotated by ratchet gear to give the requisite variation in the extent and position of the yarn layers:
