[Classes 61 (ii) and 145 (i).] Implement for use in splitting, breaking, and sawing wood has a framework comprising front legs a and a support b connected by hooked members c. A knife g having an upwardly directed cutting edge on which wood is split is mounted on bolts h and spaced from the legs a by sleeves bearing at their inner ends on metal plates k mounted on the legs. A metal bar l is mounted on the frame above and to the rear of the knife g, and a second bar m is secured to the rear of the legs a. Wood is broken by placing it between the knife g and bar l and existing pressure on the outer end ; wood to be sawn is supported on the bars l, m and clamped by a foot s on a screwed member q mounted in a bridge piece o. The foot sand the upper edges of the bars l, m may be serrated. A second and heavier splitting knife may be secured to the framework near the ground. The framework may be in the form of a tripod, and may be clamped to a bench or table.
