Abstract
348,538. Implements for working land. RAE, J. S., Linthill, Ayton, Berwickshire. Feb. 12, 1930, No. 4700. [Class 6 (i).] A horse or traction hoe comprises rear hoe blades 14 rigidly suspended from a transverse shaft 13 rocked by a lever 18 movable over a notched quadrant 19, and one or more front stationary or non-rotary hoe blades such as 23, 29, carried at the lower ends of rigid upright bars or legs such as 24, 30 each adjustable in a vertical or substantially vertical direction as by clamps 26 adjustable along longitudinal frame bars of the implement; the angle of incidence of the blade to the ground is varied either by adjustment of the clamp 26 along a quadrant 25 or by the insertion of a wedge 31 into the clamp before or behind the upright bar. The implement may be provided with a front drawhook 37 adjustable by a pin 40 and bolt holes 39 so as to raise or lower the front of the implement. The blades may be of rectangular shape or rounded at the front edge and may be detachably riveted to the legs or made integrally with them. The wedges 31 may be attached by chains 32 to the legs 30. A front guide-wheel 43 may be provided with a support 44 so clamped to the implement that the wheel can be adjusted vertically.
