Abstract
348,711. Implements for working land. STEVENS, O. F., Moor Court, Sturminster Marshall, Wimborne, Dorset. Aug. 26, 1930, No. 36359/29. [Class 6 (i).] An implement for working grass land &c. comprises a braced U- shaped frame 11, wheels 10 journalled in brackets on the frame, a stationary transverse bar 17, brackets 18 clamped on the bar 17, a pair of bars 20 pivoted on each of the brackets, and a knife 21 detachably secured between the bars 20 of each pair, the upper part of the knife being narrower than the lower part. It also comprises a pin 21a bridging each pair of bars 20, a headed rod 22 mounted on each pin, a bracket 23 on a transverse rod or tube 24 above the frame 11 to form a sliding support for each of the headed rods 22, a pin passing through each rod 22 above the bracket 23, a spring 30 surrounding each rod 22 below the bracket, arms 25 connecting the rod 24 to a spindle 26 journalled in the frame 11 above the wheel axis, a handle or lifting lever 27 secured on the spindle 26, and means for retaining the handle in any adjusted position. The frame 11 is provided with draw-bars 13, 14 and front wheels 15. The bars 20 are of varying lengths so as to stagger the knives 21. Two-edged knives 33, Fig. 5, may be fixed in two positions, as shown, on bars 20 of equal length. A box 34 may be provided for fertilizers to be distributed by hand or mechanically.
