Abstract

576,907. Agricultural implements. FERGUSON (MOTORS), Ltd., H., SANDS, W. J., and GREER, A. June 28, 1943, Nos. 10399/43 and 5533/44. [Class 6 (i)] Tractor-drawn implements unsupported by ground wheels are provided with steering- means and a seat arranged so that the operator has in view the rows of plants between which cultivation is to be effected. The implement frame consists of transverse angle bars 1, spaced at each end by bars 2. A transverse bar 3 is bolted to the bars 2 leaving a narrow guide slot 4 for the tool supports 16. Bridge members 6 span the frame and serve for the attachment of lower lateral links 5, and bracing members 7, 10 to a single upper link 5, the other ends of the three links 5 being attached universally to the tractor. Clamp-bars 30 bolted to the mudguard flats of the tractor rear axle are extended rearwardly and upwardly to support an operator's seat 35. The steering handle 36 is pivoted at the front end of the clamp-bars, and the lower end of the pivot pin is connected through U-shaped links to a link 22 the other end of which is articulated to the pivot-pin 12 of one of the lower links 5. Alternatively the handle 36 may be pivoted to a soil-engaging fin. The seat may be at the side of the tractor with the operator facing to the rear. The implements are adjustably supported on their uprights 16 which are braced to a horizontal bar bolted through the slots on each side of the bar 3 of the frame to an upper clamping' plate 20.
