Abstract

414,706. Pipe joints. LEAD WOOL CO., Ltd., and MOULTON, F., Snodland, Kent. Feb. 9, 1933, No. 3971. Addition to 287,971, [Class 99 (i)]. [Class 99 (i).] In a spigot and socket joint of the kind described in the parent Specification, the supporting-ring is made of yielding, non - resilient material sheathed with soft metal, such as lead. A ribbed ring of the kind illustrated in Fig. 2 of Specification 380,544 may be used. Between the socket 11 and spigot 12 are housed a lead-sheathed yarn ring 13, a rubber ring 14, a lead-sheathed ring 15, and lead-wool caulking 16. In a modification, a U-shaped rubber ring is arranged between pairs of lead-sheathed rings. In a further modification, a pair of wedge-shaped rubber rings is arranged between pairs of leadsheathed rings, and the joint is closed by a caulked metal ring.
