Abstract

414,398. Oil engines. GEWERKSCHAFT M. STINNES, 111, Viehoferstrasse, Essen, Germany. Oct. 31, 1932, No. 30528. Convention date, March 17. [Class 7 (iii).] A conically-shaped heat-accumulating body 3, which promotes ignition, is located in a precombustion chamber 2 or in the cylinder of a compression-ignition engine, with its apex in the path of the fuel injected through a nozzle 6. The body is suspended by thin arms which insulate it from the metal parts of the engine. It may be made of porous copper, porous nickel, sheet iron or chrome nickel steel and may be impregnated with a catalyst, such as palladium, platinum or oxygen compounds of cerium, vanadium, thorium or copper. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that instead of using a conical heat-accumulating body, masses such as rods, cylinders, helices, gauzes or perforated or corrugated sheets may be placed annularly around the nozzle. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 5771/14, 157,018, 162,523, and 182,709, [all in Class 7 (iii)].
