Description
Method for operating internal combustion engines. There have been many attempts to increase the performance of internal combustion engines, for example by a supercharger in explosion engines.
By the subject matter of the present invention He-making method for operating internal combustion engines should also be a performance increase will be generated. According to this method, in addition to the charge mixture consisting of fuel and air, the cylinder is supplied with a liquid which releases oxygen. Hydrogen peroxide, for example, can be used as such a liquid.
The invention also relates to an internal combustion engine for performing the method according to the invention. The same has means to the liquid; which releases oxygen into the combustion chamber.
Two embodiments of this internal combustion engine are shown in the accompanying drawing. On the basis of this, the method according to the invention is explained below, for example.
Fig. 1 shows the inner end of the cylinder together with the piston in section, and in Fig. 2 the cylinder cover of the other embodiment is shown in section. According to Fig. 1, the piston k. plays in the cylinder z with the cylinder cover d . A sieve bottom s is clamped between the cylinder z and the cylinder cover d and is thus located in the combustion chamber of the cylinder z is located. In the cylinder cover d an inlet valve v and a supply line .L 'are arranged, through which an oxygen-releasing liquid is supplied.
The mode of operation is as follows: The oxygen-releasing liquid is supplied during the suction stroke and mixes with the charge mixture that is introduced into the combustion chamber. The oxygen-releasing liquid is preheated or evaporated in the hot cylinder cover. When the steam now passes the sieve tray s obtained in the glowing state through the burns or by special means not shown, the oxygen is given off and burns during the subsequent combustion. This enables the use of richer charging mixtures, which increases engine performance.
Depending on the liquid used, a complete dissociation of the liquid, possibly to a mixture which is explosive in the dissociated state at a lower temperature, can occur when passing through the glowing sieve bottom.
The embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from the one described above in that the oxygen-releasing liquid is injected directly into the combustion chamber under pressure by means of the pipe r and the opening ö. This enables the invention to be used in two-stroke engines with inlet slots controlled by the piston.
If the vaporized liquid passes through the sieve bottom after ignition with the piston moving downwards, the duration of the combustion is extended by releasing the oxygen, so that the combustion approaches a constant pressure combustion, which ensures a smooth running of the engine.
It is of course also possible without further ado to attach the sieve s outside the engine cylinder, for example in front of the carburetor and equip existing engines with the same.
The oxygen-releasing liquid can also be supplied in gas turbines to increase the output. Hydrogen peroxide is mainly used as the liquid.
