414,388. Heating liquids by electricity. VALLS, A., 36, New Broad Street, London.-(Snider, F.lli, (partly) ; 19, Via Fiamma, Milan, Italy.) Jan. 26, 1933, No. 2456. [Class 39 (iii).] An apparatus for heating liquids more especially for preparing infusions such as coffee comprises a metal container a with a metal cover c, electrical heating means being provided in the container and the whole being enclosed in a jacket band d of electrically non- conducting mouldable material. A U-shaped metallic reinforcement e connected to two rings e<2> and e<3> and to the closure means n for the cover c is provided to relieve the jacket b of any tension when the cover is screwed down. The heating means comprises a carbon block electrode t in which holes are bored and smaller carbon electrodes r inserted. The liquid is heated by the flow of the current through the liquid itself in the gaps between the electrodes t and r. The substance to be infused is held between two filters hand j and water driven up a tube g by the generation of steam in the container passes up through the substance into the cover c which is provided with a discharge spout.
