Abstract
414,349. Direct - - acting engines. PESCARA, R. P., 23, Rue Lesueur, Paris. Oct. 28, 1932, No. 30326. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 4, 1933]. [Class 7 (ii).] An air compressor comprises freely-moving differential pistons 5, 6 in the compression cylinder 1 and power cylinder 4, the pistons sliding on fixed guides 8 and having internal cushioning spaces 7 ; towards the ends of the return strokes, slots 10 in the pistons allow communication between the cushioning spaces and the compression spaces 11 ; the cushioning spaces may in addition be opened to atmosphere through other apertures. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the piston is guided by an extension 15 moving in a fixed cushioning cylinder 17 opened to atmosphere and to the compression space at the end of the stroke.
