Abstract
409,496. Two - stroke engines. PESCARA, R. P., 115, Rue de la Tour, Paris. March 17, 1933, Nos. 8182 and 8183. Convention dates, March 17, 1932 and Aug. 29, 1932. [Class 7 (ii).] The return stroke of a motor-compressor with free pistons is effected by cushioning means independent of the compression spaces in conjunction with the gas remaining in the clearance spaces, the independent cushioning means being connected with a source of constant pressure. Fig. 1 shows a compressor in which a cushioning cylinder space 8 is provided connected with the receiver 7 fed by the compressor. In a modification, Fig. 2, the compressor piston slides over a sleeve 9 through which and through a pipe 10 passing into it, the gas is compressed into the receiver 7 ; the cushioning space is thus the interior of the piston. Each of these arrangements may be modified to provide a stage compressor in which an intermediate receiver supplies a part of the return energy in addition to that stored in the clearance spaces and in the constant-pressure cushion connected with the final stage receiver.
