Abstract
414,228. Thermionic valves. WISE, R. M., 307, East 4th Street, Emporium, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Sept. 7, 1933, No. 24788. Convention date, Sept. 10, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] A valve comprises two sets of amplifying elements, the grid structure of each of which comprises a plurality of co-extensive foraminous members. In one form, filaments 12 are supported on hooks 24 secured to posts which are mounted on an upper insulating plate, (Fig. 2, not shown), and are welded to posts sealed in the pinch which carry a corresponding lower insulating plate 16. Grids 13, each comprising inner and outer windings 31 and 32 are secured to rods 33, 34, 35, 36, which are mounted in the plates 16. The anodes 14 are provided with ears 45 clinched in slots in the plates 16, and each is connected to one of two posts which support the plates from the pinch. The filaments may be connected in series or in parallel or may be independent or may be replaced by an indirectly heated cathode. A method of assembling the electrodes on the pinch is described.
