Abstract

414,357. Thermionic valves. LASZLO, S. P. DE, 6, Stanhope Place, Hyde Park, London. Jan. 31, 1933, Nos. 2987 and 35000. [Class 39 (i).] In a valve having a cathode, an anode, and one or more grids, one or more of the electrodes is supported between a pair of strips of insulating material which extend longitudinally of the electrodes and are spaced apart so that the electrode or electrodes extends between them. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, two strips 7 of mica are seated on the cranked ends of supports 5 for an anode 4. The vertical edges of the strips engage in grooves 6 in the anode and are recessed to provide projections fitting over the top and bottom of the anode. The bent ends 8 of three rods 9 are carried in apertures in each of the strips. A grid 10 is wound between the middle rods, and two grids 11, connected together electrically, are wound between the outer pairs of rods. The filament cathode 1 is supported at the upper end by a metal rod 12 carried by the strips, and an inner grid 2 is carried by supports secured in the pinch. In a modification shown in plan in Fig. 4, the anodes 20 of two valves are supported by bent rods 19 on two strips 15 carried by metal plates 17 secured to uprights 16. Each anode is grooved to receive a pair of inner strips 22 carrying rods 24 for supporting control grids. A transverse mica strip 27 has projections 32 engaging in slots in the strips 22, and carries springs 29 supporting the filaments. The edges of the strips 22 are serrated and bear against a narrow part of the envelope. In another arrangement three valves are mounted in a similar way.
