413,452. Steelyard apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., and LEESON, A., Soho Foundry, Birmingham. April 11, 1933, No.10743. [Class 143.] A poise weight for a steelyard embodies a skid 7 which is secured or pivotally connected at one end 12 to the poise weight and is provided with a running surface 7<a> adapted to ride on the steelyard during a traversing operation, and a manuallyoperated means is provided for raising the front end of the poise weight (with the usual positioning nib 6) relative to the skid to transfer the weight of the poise weight to the skid for the traversing operation. The manually operated means may consist of a knob 10 and cam 8 which may be caused to bear down on the upturned end of the skid and so raise the nib 6 out of its notch. A pin 11 limits the movements of the skid. The skid may consist of a resilient strip. Two or more skids may be employed.
