Abstract

413,235. Switch cases. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, POOLEY, A. M., Riverdale, Tixall, and HEATH, A. A., Lydstep, Rowley Park, both in Staffordshire. Feb. 10, 1934, No. 4484. [Class 38 (v).] An enclosed switch is interlocked with the cover so that normally the switch cannot be closed when the cover is raised, but the latch is adapted to be moved manually to permit closing of the switch for test while the cover is raised. A latching pawl 3 pivoted to the casing is biassed in a clockwise direction by gravity and when the cover is closed a lug 4 on the cover engages the pawl to turn it anti-clockwise to move the left-hand end of the pawl out of the path of a pin 2 on the switch operating member 1 to allow it to turn anti-clockwise to close the switch as in Fig. 1. Known means (not shown) are provided for preventing the cover from being raised while the switch is closed.
