Abstract
412,764. Wireless receiving - sets. OLIVER PELL CONTROL, Ltd., Cambridge Place, Burrage Road, Woolwich, London, OLIVER, C., 3, Shepherd's Green, Chislehurst, Kent, and MOODY, G. H., 6, Harland Road, Lee, London. June 10, 1933, No. 16660. [Class 40 (v).] A coupling coil arrangement for use in wireless receiving-sets, particularly for intermediate frequencies, comprises two coils 16, 18, either or both having magnetic dust cores, the coils being mounted one above the other with their axles horizontal, and one or both coils being rotatable about a vertical axis to vary the coupling between them. In the arrangement shown, the coil 16 is mounted in an insulating tube 15 fixed to an outer insulating tube 14 carried by a base 12. The coil 18 is mounted in an insulating tube 17, which carries a plug 19 terminating in a knob 20 by means of which the tube and coil 18 can be rotated in the tube 14 through 90‹. Adjustable condensers 32, 32<a> of the "squeezing" type are mounted on the base 12 and adjusted'by means of rods 35, 35<a> engaging screws 36, 36<a>. One or more condensers may also be mounted on the outside of the tube 14, the condenser plates being curved to fit the tube. The whole apparatus is enclosed in a cylindrical metal cover 22 and metal base 23. In a modification, the cover may be made capable of turning on the base, and may carry or be connected to the movable coil, so that the latter may be adjusted by turning the cover.
